“How to Install Quarter Seal Weatherstrips”

This a short article on how to change out a quarter seal weatherstrips. Little background just so we are on the same page. The quarter seal weatherstrip is located in between the front window and the rear window of a 2 door hardtop or convertible. The 4 door hardtop models have what they call vertical weatherstrips. The quarter seal weatherstrips were used from the mid 50′s up to 76.

 Removal of the Quarter Seal Weatherstrips

quarter seal weatherstrips This is probably the hardest part of the job especially if the quarter seal weatherstrip is original. Some quarter seal weatherstrips have a screw on the bottom so look for that before you try to pull it out. To start we have to take off the u-jamb weatherstrip. There are a couple screw to take out. Then check for the screw on the quarter seal weatherstrips take it out if there is one and pull straight down. If it doesn’t come out you may have to cut the quarter seal weatherstrips out. Once out clean really well.

 Installing the Quarter Seal Weatherstrips

This is what I do I put a small amount of weatherstrip adhesive in the chrome channel not too much you don’t want it all over the chrome. Then slide the quarter seal weatherstrips up in the channel put the screw in if there was one and let it dry and that’s it. All we need to do now is put the u-jamb s on with a couple screw and you are finished. U-jamb weatherstripsThere are a couple pictures here to help you out.
